Plaid Handbag Trend for Fall! Favorites from Kate Spade & Tory Burch.

Categories:Other Brands

Last week, my husband met me for lunch and as we sat down, we realized we were surrounded by high school students. It was the first week of school, so I guess they all felt they needed to leave campus for lunch. You know, because it’s cool. Oddly enough, my husband asked me about their clothing. He noticed that almost all of them had plaid flannel shirts, despite the fact that it was 90 degrees outside!

Just when you thought it was gone for good, the plaid clothing trend is back. Remember those plaid flannel shirts of the 1990s? But this time around, the look isn’t what I would call “grudge.” Thank goodness for that! This whole plaid clothing trend did get me thinking though. What can we expect for the upcoming Autumn season and will clothing be the only area of fashion on board with this trend? Jennifer recently wrote about the Herschel Supply Co Plaid Settlement Daypack Backpack, so my guess is no. I think handbags are being sucked into this trend as well. Take a look!

Kate Spade is not known for plaid prints, but the black and cream checkers look pretty good on this satchel.

Plaid and tweed just seem to go hand-in-hand on this little crossbody bag. This piece is definitely ready for fall!

Dolce & Gabbana’s Spain-Inspired Spring 2015 Bags Include Doll Cases

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2015 Handbags 4

At a certain point, it feels moot to review a Dolce & Gabbana collection. The Italian duo has more or less exempted itself from the vagaries of producing collections that correspond to particular seasons, trends or weather varieties; instead, they fill their seasonal collections with the same intricate, history-laden Mediterranean details they always do, and consumers gobble it up like Dolce might up and quit before fall.

For Spring 2015, the pair moved their aesthetic from Sicily to Spain, but the results were mostly the same as you’d expect, if slightly more red. The bags, too, were pretty much what we’ve come to expect–Sicily satchels, detailed box clutches with top handles, mini bags. The notable exceptions were the box-encased dolls that a couple of models. As for the dolls: I’ve seen no definitive word on what they are or what their significance is, but I’m sure Dolce’s VIP clients will be fighting to get them.

Dolce & Gabbana Debuts Three One-of-a-Kind Exotic Patchwork Bags

Categories:Other Brands

Dolce & Gabbana Exotic Sicily Bags

The whole trick of the luxury industry is to make consumers feel like they’re buying something rare when, in actuality, whatever we’re buying is almost certainly made in enormous quantities. As the industry expands, putting your hands on something unique gets harder and harder, which is why I took note of these Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Small Patchwork Exotic Bags atLUISAVIAROMA – they’re all one-of-a-kind.

Most brands produce one-of-a-kind pieces here and there to display in stores or offer to their best clients, but it’s not often that a brand as big as Dolce & Gabbana offers something totally unique at a third-party retailer, especially an exotic piece. Each bag is made from different-colored panels of crocodile and snakeskin, except for the bottom, which is leather. Also, each bag retails for right under $3,000, and although its not a bargain, it’s not nearly as much as most exotic bags from major brands usually cost, let alone a one-off piece.

For me, the winner of the trio is the bag with the pale blue crocodile flap; the contrast against the yellow snakeskin underneath is beautiful. Which is your favorite?

Taylor Swift Still Loves Her Favorite Dolce & Gabbana Bag

Categories:Other Brands

Taylor Swift Dolce and Gabbana Sara Bag

Here’s Taylor Swift, leaving the gym in NYC in the cutest post-gym outfit ever, carrying what is undoubtedly her favorite bag of the year: the Dolce & Gabbana Sara Bag. You can find a slightly more formal, brocade version of the Sara on sale for $1,274 (down from $1,820) at MATCHESFASHION.COM. It’s worth noting that this site is now offering free shipping and free returns (with full refunds on duties for returns) for US customers with the coupon code USAFREE.

Taylor loves this bag so much, we penned an extensive post about her love affair with the D&G Sara all the way back in April. In other news, is anyone else alarmed by the number of full grown, (presumably non-paparazzi) men that are standing around taking smartphone photos of Taylor? How about the guy who is obviously waiting to filch whatever she threw in the trash and list it on eBay?

Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss Hang Out with Their Dolce & Gabbana Bags

Categories:Other Brands

Taylor Swift Dolce & Gabbana Agata Bag Karlie Kloss Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Bag

Here are adorable, color-matching BFFs Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss, leaving NYC brunch favorite Sarabeth’s in Tribeca. Both ladies are carrying black Dolce & Gabbana bags. Taylor’s is the Dolce & Gabbana Agata Bag, while Karlie has the Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Bag(formerly known as the Miss Sicily, but apparently Dolce is looking to simplify things). Taylor’s bag is currently out of stock online, but Karlie’s Sicily can be found for $1,995 at Barneys.

Taylor has been on quite a D&G bag kick as of late, and this Agata bag is fairly similar to her hands-down favorite handbag of 2014, the Dolce & Gabbana Sara Bag. You can see more of Taylor’s favorite bags in “The Many Bags of Taylor Swift,” and you can also check out some of Karlie’s top bag picks in “50+ Bags on the Arms of Our Favorite Supermodels”.

Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2014 Bags are Exactly What You’d Expect, but in a Good Way

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014 Handbags (27)

Every season, the fashion season frets over trends. Every season, the fashion industry tries to find new inspiration, new materials, new shapes, new colors. Every season, we try to reinvent the wheel, while every season, Dolce & Gabbana Bags trots right alongside us, doing its own parallel thing and selling clothes and accessories hand over fist. It feels like it’s been a decade since Dolce gave us a collection that wasn’t overtly and aggressively inspired by Domenico Dolce’s homeland of Sicily (actual time: 2.5 years), and the brand may very well never give us another non-Sicilian collection again, for all I care. Oh, and the bags from Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014 Bags aren’t bad, either.

It didn’t really click for me until I one day saw a woman walking down the street in New York, wearing a crisp white shirt, simple pumps and a gorgeous, midi-length full skirt printed with a Sicilian seaside vista. These clothes, for all their kitsch when laid on top of each other, actually look incredible when split up into someone’s actual wardrobe. And not only that, but because they’re not beholden to obvious trends or dependent on model-proportioned bodies, they can look incredible on almost anyone.

Dolce’s bags usually aren’t its first concern, but this season did bring us a new staple from the brand by way of a trim, tailored executive tote in a variety of leathers. It’s nice to see something from the brand beyond the Miss Sicily and Miss Dolce and the usual ultra-thematic runway pieces, and I’m sure Dolce fans will gobble it up. Check out the full collection below, straight from the runway.
