SURPRISE! ALEXANDER WANG SENT OUT A PARADE OF PARTY GIRLS FOR FALL

A look from the Alexander Wang Fall 2017 collection.

With the fashion industry in a state of flux, there's something comforting about the familiar. Thankfully, we can always count on Alexander Wang to show us a good time, which is why very few editors batted an eye when the designer directed them to an unlisted address in Harlem on Saturday night for his Fall 2017 show — an invitation that explicitly came with the warning "no after-party."

Of course, there was some subtext here, and although the disclaimer proved true, guests were greeted with a literal pyramid of Peroni kegs upon arrival (you may recall Wang threw a frat-themed after-party back in September 2011) and given wristbands à la Coachella or #WangFest to further throw them for a loop. The venue was the abandoned RKO Hamilton Theater; instead of seats, the audience filled in the standing space surrounding the elevated runway, beers in hand, as if waiting for a rock show. Metro Boomin warmed the crowd up with a DJ set, and before long, a sudden flash of strobe lights signaled it was time to get down.

In a move that should surprise no one, Wang focused on his ultimate muse — the too-cool-for-school party girl — for fall. The collection was done up almost completely in black, and included high-mileage closet staples that his longtime devotees will surely appreciate: oversize, tomboyish blazers and overcoats; boxy denim jackets; slinky, silk slip dresses; slouchy T-shirts and tank tops; body-hugging catsuits; and studded boots, in both heeled and flat iterations. Much like in seasons past, there was heavy metal hardware aplenty — particularly chain-strap handbags, studs that lined sleeves, hems and lapels, as well as large circular silver buttons.

There was a new-ish Western element that permeated many of the pieces: leather pants and denim came super-high waisted, and metal fringe hung from shirt pockets, the backs of sleeves and a scarf-like collar, like some sort of goth cowgirl. As for the eveningwear, Wang went hard on the bling, too, accenting mesh minidresses — some with sexy, peek-a-boo paneling — with crystals and the aforementioned metal fringe. Like last season's customized "Wang Squad" airbrush tees, models were gifted novelty items backstage that lit up social media. Aside from the "no after-party" printed tights that debuted on the runway, we spotted denim pieces and T-shirts that read "for drugs," "best high you can buy" and "party animal" spelled out in early aughts-esque rhinestones. A selection of these off-runway items will go up for sale on Wang's website and in his retail stores on Sunday — and will surely inspire more than a few fast-fashion knockoffs in the months ahead.

Once the finale rolled around, models walked straight off of the runway, through the crowd, out the back door and, presumably, into the night. Good thing they were already dressed — we'd hate for them to waste some precious party time.

Alexander Wang Dumbo Backpack

Categories:Other Brands

alexander-wang-dumbo-backpack-black

I do not know how long you’ve been following us, but here is a fact. In the past, whenever we saw a Chanel backpack, even though we think it’s cool, we say ‘no’. The only backpack we had featured was theAlexander Wang’s Marti Backpack.

That’s was around a year ago, and now everything has changed. Cahnel Backpack is back, returned from the graveyard, they are now cool. More and more fashion girls are carrying them. It’s so popular that Alexander Wang decided to design another one.

The Alexander Wang Dumbo Backpack, take it in black for the most classic look. Now please hit me: ‘Tell why this bag is so special’.

Alright, where do I start?

Okay, do you remember the Alexander Wang Rocco Bag?

Yeah that bag.

The Alexander Wang Rocco Bag is one of the most classic bags from Alexander Wang. It got beautiful studs on the bottom which makes us drool. Still, some people love it and others hate it. The studs are quite heavy, which can drag your bag to bottom, due to graffiti. Still, if you can forget about that, it’s one of the most stunning designs ever and you will love to own one in your wardrobe.

This dumbo backpack, I would personally call it Rocco Backpack, but anyways. It has the same rose gold studs embellished like the Rocco bag on the bottom. The size is so cute that we will be guilty if we don’t share it with you.

A casual look, perfect to carry books and small laptops because it’s made from black textured leather (lambskin). The design is quite easy, but timeless. There is even an internal compartment to store all your everyday essentials.

This bag comes in different colors and variation, of course black is my favo. The size is measured 30 x 33 x 14 cm (W x H x D.

Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – New York Fashion Week

Categories:Fashion

The Alexander Wang spring/summer 2015 collection managed to thoroughly meet our expectations to see something wow-worthy, spectacular and one-of-a-kind, since as usual the designer combined the uncombinable, mixed the most clashing vibes and presented an obviously winning and powerful line of slick and glamorous clothing pieces. For his spring line, Wang found his inspiration in the sporty style, or sneakers more precisely, even though we never saw any tennis shoes and trainers, since the models walked down the catwalk wearing uber creative heeled sandals. He tried to explain his unique way of interpreting the love for sneakers in his clothing designs, stating, “They’re such an infatuation of my generation. But I wanted to reinterpret and manipulate the ideas and mix them with the cutting of Madame Grès and Fortuny.” This certainly worked and we couldn’t ask for a better and more creative line of to-die-for dresses, tops and trousers!

Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2015 Collection - New York Fashion Week

Just like the nature of sneakers is, the Alexander Wang spring/summer 2015 collection was unbelievably easy-to-wear, comfortable and everyday-worthy. Still, it was the big proportions of chic and glamour that made these pieces so bedazzling. And despite the fact that the sporty style was behind these stunning creations, the pieces appeared to be surprisingly polished, sleek and compact. This spring, the designer has some really outstanding style suggestions both for the working class ladies and for those, striving so hard to stand out in the crowd while sporting an effortless style.
In terms of the color palette, the Alexander Wang spring/summer 2015 collection was more about saturated and dark hues, at times broken by the touches of white, pops of orange, green, eclectic blue and yellow. As for the prints used, they all reminded of sneakers, so there you couldn’t see any ordinary stripes, dots or animal prints, but rather motifs of lacing, zigzags and interwoven abstract patterns. Mesh inserts, delicate pleats and plissés, plastic-resembling leather details and just ideal tailoring are other details that secured the success of the Alexander Wang spring 2014 runway show.

Black high-waisted satin trousers matched with curious crop tops and bodices, flirty yet strong mini dresses with flared and pleated skirts, body-con ones in bright hues, structural blazers and jackets, show-stopping tops featuring thematic prints and styles are some of the powerful says of Alexander Wang for this coming spring! The looks were finished off with sleek updos, minimal makeup the models wore, as well as creative heeled sandals and ones featuring mesh details. Some of the looks came also complemented with bags fusing black and white hues with slight touches of red.
With the Alexander Wang spring/summer 2015 collection Wang proved that it’s not important where your idea comes from, but rather how you manage to serve it to the public. We can rightly say he did it skillfully!

Zimmermann Hits the NYFW Runway

Categories:Fashion

Is it just us, or is Zimmermann one of the highlights of New York Fashion Week? While, yes, we are major fans of Phillip Lim, and Alexander Wang will always get our vote (and credit card details), there's something so feminine about every single piece in the Zimmermann collection. Plus, there's the little fact that this big name was Made In Australia.

While we admittedly prefer having the homegrown label on the local schedule, Zimmermann's presence in the US is growing by the minute. "We've always had a really great response in the US," designer Nicky Zimmermann told POPSUGAR Australia. And if you need proof that this label is one of our biggest exports, remember this: Zimmermann recently expanded their flagship US store to a bigger, better boutique, located on Mercer Street. The NYC store is Zimmermann's biggest worldwide, and is in pretty impressive company, nestled amongst other big names like A.P.C, Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang.

So what sets Zimmermann apart from the dozens of fledgling fashion brands trying to make it big in New York? "Our aesthetic is very different to what other designers do in the US. We’re obviously influenced a lot by where we come from and people seem to enjoy our approach to colour and print and the optimistic approach to our collections. I think since we've had our own stores in New York and LA over the last few years that it’s really helped paint more of a picture of what we do and what Zimmermann is about," Nicky said.

Front row at this season's show was a cool round-up of Australia's most stylish women, with Lara Bingle, Nicole Trunfio, Emma Lung and Harper's Bazaar US executive editor Laura Brown keen to get close to the action on the runway. But, Nicky would happily do a little switch with the front row: "I just wish I could be front row at one of our shows for once. As a designer you spend all this time and energy working on a collection and you never get to see the show how everyone else sees it," she joked.

Nicky says the collection, titled 'Cloud Stompers', is brighter than your ordinary Fall line: "It's very textural, colour and prints are very rich and there is a lot of intricate detailing combining metals and fabric." Scroll on to see what this iconic Aussie export delivered for Fall 2014 (that's Spring for us Down Under).

Alexander Wang Makes a Chic Slingback Flat

Alexander Wang Irene Sandals

Dressing for in-between seasons can be tricky. Transitional cutout booties are a great way to start both the fall and spring seasons, but sometimes they can be a bit clunky for those occasional warmer days. Known for his sporty, sometimes-androgynous designs, Alexander Wang is giving us a new way to look at transitional footwear with his new Irene Flat.

This pared-down Alexander Wang design isn’t one that I would normally gravitate toward, nor does it fit into my style, but I’m intrigued. I envision myself wearing these sandals with rolled-up boyfriend jeans and my favorite chunky-knit turtleneck. These shoes were made for the minimalist at heart, but if you are like me and tend be on the maximal side of things, you may be surprised how well these can work for you.
